Our house was designed to be good for us and easier on the planet. We also
wanted it to fit in the neighborhood. The porch on the left is ours, and
the one on the right is a 600SF apartment that occupies the north side of the
main floor. Our porches function to keep the door dry, as a place for
muddy shoes, and a place to sit in the summer where we can interact with our
neighbors. Our house looks like any other house, and to some degree it is,
but many of the details are different.
